For 10 people ()


  • 5 pound(s) unpeeled raw shrimp
  • 1 large onion, peeled and quartered
  • 3 clove(s) garlic
  • 0.5 cup(s) vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup(s) ketchup (optional)
  • 0.5 teaspoon(s) Tabasco
  • 0.5 teaspoon(s) black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon(s) lemon, sliced
  • 0.25 cup(s) vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon(s) liquid crab boil
  • 0.75 cup(s) salt

Boiled Shrimp Directions

  1. Wash shrimp.  
  2. Half fill a 6 quart pot with water; bring to a boil.  
  3. Add all ingredients except shrimp, crab boil and salt; return to a boil; add shrimp and crab boil.  Boil 5 minutes; remove from heat.  
  4. Add salt; stir to dissolve.  Let set covered for 30 minutes for shrimp to absorb flavor.
  5. Remove shrimp.  May be served immediately or chilled.
