Garlic Cheese Grits

Back home growing up we ate so much grits it was coming out of our ears. But grits can be seasoned a lot of different ways. In place of the role garlic cheese I would use pepper jack cheese and some finally diced fresh garlic.

  • 1 cup(s) grits
  • 4 cup(s) water
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 roll garlic cheese
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 0.25 cup(s) milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

Garlic Cheese Grits Directions

  1. Cook grits in water with salt added.
  2. After grits are cooked, add 1 role garlic cheese.
  3. Break in pieces and add 1 stick of butter, 2 eggs well beaten, salt and pepper to taste, milk. Put in a casserole (1 1/2 quart) and bake 40 minutes to one hour at 300 to 350°.
  4. Variation: separate eggs and fold in 2 stiffly beaten egg whites before putting in casserole to bake.
