  • 0.5 pound(s) rock, peeled and deveined shrimp
  • 2 tablespoon(s) margarine or butter
  • 0.75 cup(s) onion, chopped
  • 0.25 cup(s) green pepper, chopped
  • 0.5 cup(s) celery, chopped
  • 1 clove(s) garlic, minced
  • 2 cup(s) fully cooked ham, cubed
  • 1 can(s) (28 ounce) tomatoes, undrained, cut up
  • 1 can(s) (10.5 ounce) beef broth plus 1 can water
  • 1 cup(s) uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 teaspoon(s) sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon(s) dry Thyme leaves, crushed
  • 0.5 teaspoon(s) chili powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon(s) pepper

Creole Jambalaya Directions

  1. Melt margarine in Dutch oven. Add onion, celery, green pepper, parsley and garlic. 
  2. Cover and cook until tender. 
  3. Add remaining ingredients, except shrimp. 
  4. Cover and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender.
  5. Add shrimp and simmer uncovered to desired consistency and until shrimp are cooked, about 5 or 10 minutes.
