Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding

I have found using stale white bread, cubed was better than using fresh cubed white bread.  For something a little bit different, I made this recipe using some croissants that I had forgotten about in my refrigerator. The results was to die for.

  • 5 tablespoon(s) butter
  • 2 cup(s) hot milk
  • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
  • 0.33 cup(s) dark brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.13 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 2 cup(s) white bread, cubed with crust removed
  • 6 ounce(s) chocolate chips

Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding Directions

  1. Heat butter, sugar and milk together. Add eggs, vanilla and salt.
  2. Grease a 1-quart baking dish. Place bread and chocolate chips in baking dish.
  3. Pour egg mixture over bread and chips. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand in the refrigerator 5 hours.
  4. Place in larger pan of water in a 350F oven and bake for 45 minutes or until brown on top.
