Meat Balls and Wine

A little Vino in this recipe goes a long way.

For 8 people ()


  • 2.5 pound(s) ground meat
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 3 clove(s) garlic
  • 1 can(s) mushroom soup
  • water
  • oleo
  • 1 egg
  • milk
  • 1 medium onion
  • celery
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 cup(s) wine
  • parsley and onion tops
  • 3 slices bread

Meat Balls and Wine Directions

  1. Grind onions, bell pepper, celery and garlic together. Soak the bread in enough milk to moisten well.
  2. Mix half the ground vegetables with the meat, the egg and soaked bread. Shape into balls and brown in oven. 
  3. Prepare sauce by placing oleo in a skillet. Saute the remaining vegetables in the oleo. Add the onion soup mix, two cups water and let simmer one hour. 
  4. Add the meat balls and mushroom sauce to the sauce and simmer another hour.
  5. Add the onion tops and parsley and the wine and simmer for 15 more minutes. Serve on rice with green salad on the side.
