Sauce Savoreuse Du Boeuf

This recipe is great for a large crowd. It can be served over a nice mound of rice. I prefer brown rice because it's more nutritious and has less or no carbs.

For 8 people ()


  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • 4 shallots, white and green parts, chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1.5 pound(s) beef round, trimmed and ground twice
  • 2 tablespoon(s) grated Parmesan cheese or 1/2 cup
  • 0.5 cup(s) Italian flavored bread crumbs
  • 1 can onion soup, made with beef stock
  • 0.33 cup(s) bell pepper, chopped
  • 0.5 cup(s) bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoon(s) parsley flakes
  • 1 small jar pimentos, chopped and liquid

Sauce Savoreuse Du Boeuf Directions

  1. Put ground meat into bowl. Break eggs and add whole to meat. Add the bread crumbs and cheese (or the Italian flavored crumbs), the parsley flakes, salt and pepper. Mix well, preferably with hands. Form into round meat balls, about the size of ping-pong balls.
  2. Melt the margarine in the cast iron or aluminum pot. Fry meat balls over medium heat until brown on all sides. Add onion soup, mushroom soup which has been stirred in the can, pimentos and liquid, bell pepper and shallots.
  3. Cook covered over low fire for 40 minutes.  Serves eight. 
  4. Serve with rice.
